Family and friends of the late Cyrus R. Lesser have established an endowed scholarship fund for graduate students enrolled at any accredited U.S. university/college studying and performing research in the fields(s) of operational mosquito control, vector biology and/or mosquito borne diseases.
Cyrus R. Lesser worked in the field of mosquito control for 38 years up until his unexpected death in 2007. He worked 32 of these years providing mosquito control to the citizens of the State of Maryland, first as a biologist, program manager, then finally as Chief of Operations. Cyrus was also past President of the American Mosquito Control Association and held numerous professional awards and recognitions. Cyrus was a forward-thinker in his profession, a leader without few parallels, and a tremendous source of information.
As a means of fostering future learning in the field of mosquito control and vector biology, the Industry, family and friends of Cyrus R. Lesser have established this endowment for the annual scholarship awards.
