Basis of Awards
Award of this scholarship is based upon course of study, financial need and dedication to the profession.  An applicant’s undergraduate academic record will be used by the Awards Committee to predict future promise.  Completion of the U.S. Department of Education's Free Application for Federal Student Aid is required, and the scholarship dollars are used to supplement a student's education beyond the funding that is provided by the federal government.
Enrollment Status
The scholarship is open to graduate students.
Residence
The scholarship is restricted to the United States residents.
Program of Study
The scholarship is restricted to students enrolled in an entomology credit program at an accredited U.S. university/college. Preference is given to students focusing their research in mosquito control, mosquito biology and/or vector management.
Dollar Amount
From the endowed scholarship fund, the principal remains intact and only the income is used to fund the annual scholarships. It is preferable if the scholarship dollars can be used for tuition, fees and/or textbook costs and if the dollars can be awarded to one or more students in a given semester since this provides for a more equitable distribution to students who are taking a greater number of credit hours or those who have greater financial need.
Minimum GPA
The student who receives the scholarship must maintain a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) to continue receiving the scholarship the following semester.
Applications
Current application forms for the Cyrus R. Lesser Memorial Scholarship shall be made available at the Mid-Atlantic Mosquito Control Association and/or Clarke Mosquito Control websites.
